This is how I imagined it on my MTB holiday in Kaprun: The forest path winds ceaselessly towards the sky. On the way from our First IN Powder Chalet to Lake Zell and along the lakeside promenade I have warmed up, now I take off layer after layer of clothing, because it is getting warmer and warmer. At first, the shade of the forest cools me down a bit. As the tour leaves the forest and the view of the glaciated peaks of the Hohe Tauern and the Zeller See becomes clear, I am fully exposed to the radiant power of the sun and a happy thought pops into my head: On the way back, before I cycle to my First IN Mountain Chalet, I will take a cool refreshment in the Zeller See. But for now I'm on my way on my mountain bike tours in Kaprun - Zell am See with prime view high up on the Hundstein, this mountain is a must on my biking holiday in Kaprun!
The Hundstein with its 360° panorama is the hub of a whole series of distinctive mountain bike tours. Here, bikers have the most diverse combination options. From Bruck via the Erlhofplatte to the summit and down to Thumersbach to Lake Zell. Many also ride from Maria Alm to the Hundstein and choose the south side for the descent to Thumersbach or Bruck. Either way, the Hundstein belongs on your mountain bike to-do list.
Your family is not interested in kilometres, metres in altitude and top sporting achievements. Then an enjoyable bike tour around Lake Zell is just the right thing for you. Whether you are on the road with an e-bike or 100% under your own steam is of secondary importance. On the Tauern Cycle Path or on an e-bike tour, around Lake Zell, through the towns of Zell am See, Bruck, Kaprun, towards Maishofen and Saalfelden or Niedernsill and Mittersill, there is a dense network of cycle paths and low-traffic side roads. On the way, your family has a great choice of cafes and inns. Beautiful vantage points invite you to linger and enjoy. Back at your cosy First IN Mountain Chalet in Kaprun, simply park your bikes in a separate, ground-level bike room right next to your chalet.
Either your tours become longer or you also tackle steep climbs. No question: an e-bike makes cycling even better. Take on a section of the Tauern Cycle Path from Kaprun to Mittersill or climb the Enzianhütte high above Zell am See - with a full battery this is no problem. Three freeride trails on the Kitzsteinhorn offer you pure variety over a total of 1,500 metres in altitude and 12 kilometres: If you start at the Geissstein Trail at the Alpincenter at 2,450 m in the high alpine environment, you will dive into the green alpine soils of this vegetation zone from the Langwiedboden. It gets rooty further down when you reach the tree line on the Wüstlau Trail and have to master technically challenging passages. Back in the valley, you cycle comfortably back to the valley station, because the cable car takes the freeriders and their bikes up comfortably and quickly. The three freeride trails on the Kitzsteinhorn are particularly suitable for enduro bikers. The freeride trails on the Kitzsteinhorn are open from mid-June to mid-September.

The Epic Bikepark Leogang offers you the full biking challenge for downhill, freeride and mountain biking! Take your bike, off you go on the 8-seater Asitzbahn or 10-seater Steinbergbahn on the Asitz and you get straight into the epic lines of the Leogang Bike Park. If necessary, you can rent a bike at the valley station or hire a guide who will give you the right tips for shredding. Children and beginners who want to try their first jumps in the Riders Playground are also very welcome.
The Epic Bikepark Leogang - a must-visit for your MTB holiday in Kaprun - is one of the most renowned bike parks in Europe and celebrates its 20th birthday this summer. There is a lot to look forward to, as Saalfelden Leogang and the Bikepark Leogang have invested a total of more than one million euros in the past two years and have thus been able to significantly expand the bike offer. In 2020, the Riders Playground, a 10,000 sqm practice area, has been expanded with numerous new attractions. The Hot Shots fired by GoPro was converted into a massive jumpline and the 5,000 sqm asphalt World Champs Pumptrack with jump and dirtline has become a great "get together" place with a fun factor.
It only takes half an hour by car from your First IN Mountain Chalet to the bike park in Leogang. You comfortably fetch your bike from the bike room next to your chalet and put it on your car directly in front of or next to your house at your own parking space and off you go.
